Let me Re-Introduce Myself

Thanks for stopping by my new site. There are some pics that I’m still updating, but for now, I just wanted to get this thing launched and ready. This week has been real hectic and crazy and It’s supposed to be my spring break. I’m still working on my master budget project that’s due this Monday and some homework from my other classes due next week. I may have had a case of food poisoningeating something that may have been bad and it tore my stomach up real good. I call that GOD’s little warning to foodie’s. I’m still recovering but I could not get much done earlier this week, but now it’s crunch time. And on top of that, The Baltimore Natural Hair Expo is this weekend and I’m getting everything together and ready to sell. The Expo starts @ 11am until 7 or is it 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday at the Pikesville Hilton Hotel. And on a sad note, I went to see my dermatologist this week and was told (sternly??) that I need to cut off my hair in order for it to grow back. Remember a while back ago I said I had dermatitis, and that’s what I was diagnosed with the second time I was up there. The first time, it was alopecia, but he gave me some steroid drops, shampoo, and some antihistamines for the itch. If you suffer from hair loss, they have to ask you if you have STD’s, such as syphilis, iron deficiency which is what I have, hypertension, diabetes, and a family history of hair loss, which makes strike 2 for me. So the fact that I’m anemic and I have a history of hair loss on my mom’s side makes me a perfect candidate for a prosthetic wig. Hey, at least I don’t have to pay for it and I am getting a human hair wig. But what made me mad was the fact that I just got my hair done and wasn’t quite ready to cut my locs off just yet. They were finally starting to grow long and now they barely touch my shoulder. I got that whip action now(aww, yeah!!!) and the last time I cut my hair off was 3 years ago around this time. It hasn’t gotten better at all and I’ve lost more hair since then. So the first thought in my mind when theytold me that after seeing me 3 times was, Damn, do ya’ll have a sista-girlfriend up in here that feels my pain and can tell me that all I needed to do was pre-poo, shampoo, condition, use a hot oil treatment with some funky herbs and spices and it’ll just do it’s thing in time??? No, he wasn’t having it….

As far as where Green Afro Diva is going, is definitely to get the word out about what my company is about and why I’m doing this. I sell products ranging from bath and body, to hair and home decor and will be expanding the market after I graduate school next year. My blogs will cover issues not only related to health and wellness and the environment, but to include sex, mental health, food, an spirituality. I want to create a lifestyle company centered on living better for us and our community. I have plenty of new blog posts to update and cover a variety of topics, of course with my own flair ranging from Tantric Sex, Depression, the President’s Energy policy, Energy Star appliances, and me finally taking that plunge to cut off my hair(yes I will share before and after pics). I have to see my doctor in 4 months so that they can monitor my progress, but I’m thinking, in the meanwhile, I can find other ways to grow my hair without resorting to drastic measures…Then again, It’s just hair…..
